Objective: To use bold, creative typography to capture the essence of the book’s themes, drawing readers in with a visually striking design that speaks to the story without the need for imagery.
Process: In this project my biggest challenge was using only words to re-design this book cover. This book is a mystery novel, so I had many ideas, but i was not sure how i could design them using only words. One of the tools they use to solve riddles in the novel is a magnifying glass, which is often associated with detectives, so i thought this would be a good fit for the theme of the novel without giving too much away without reading it. I added in some words from the novel but changed their colour so they would be noticeable enough to see them but just hard enough to read, so again the viewer does not get an spoilers just from the cover. The original cover is green, so i decided to keep that the same because another big theme in the book is wealth, and money is often associated with the colour green.
